A long-standing tradition of expertise
The extension shock cord was first developed in 1932 by Faure-Roux, a manufacturer of braided and elastic fabrics based in Saint-Chamond (42).
At the time, this patented product was used to fit the landing gear of aircraft taking part in long-distance flights. These extenders enable the control of elongation under load through controlled deformation, which occurs linearly and smoothly.
Faure-Roux has been acquired by Louison Industries, and its expertise and products remain intact.
An innovative technical design
The technology behind our shock cords is based on a polyester braided cover over an elastic sling made of natural rubber; this sling is coiled into a closed loop between two standardised fittings.
As the strength of the ferrule is proportional to the maximum load that the tensioner can withstand, these two ferrules, which act as load-bearing points, are integrated into the tensioner’s structure without adding bulk.
This construction allows for the distribution of stress and control of deformation.
The polyester braiding also protects the rubber against UV rays, dust, moisture, etc.
